We treat only diseases of the retina. We do accept self-referrals if you have a known retinal problem. However, this does depend upon your insurance. Some policies require a referral. Check with your insurance provider before scheduling an appointment.
We generally respond in 2-3 business days of receiving your referral from your physician or optometrist. Please allow us one working day to contact you for an appointment. If you have an emergency and need to be seen the same day, your physician or optometrist will generally call us to request that you be seen the same day.
We do our best to get you scheduled in a timely manner. Your appointment will be scheduled based on the indications on your referral request.
Please bring a valid ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID) and a current insurance card. We ask that you bring your eyeglasses, a list of your current medications and allergies, your medical history, the name of your eye doctor and your primary care doctor. Most insurance require co-payment at the time of your appointment. We also ask that you bring a driver to help you get home from your appointment.
We specialize in diseases of the retina. In order to properly examine the retina your eyes will need to be dilated. Often times testing will be indicated depending on the reason of your appointment. You may require same day treatment of your condition. Depending on the type of visit, please expect to be at our office for up to 3 hours.
We require that you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to change or cancel your appointment. Unexpected changes and no-shows are disruptive to the clinic. We reserve the right dismiss patients who repeatedly do not show for their appointments.
We participate with most insurance plans. However, it’s best for you to contact your insurance company or to contact our office prior to your appointment for confirmation.
Deductible refers to a specified amount of money that the insured must pay before an insurance company will pay a claim. Coinsurance refers to the percentage of cost of a covered heal care service. Co-pay refers to the amount of a medical service or prescription that a patient is responsible for. The insurance company covers the remaining cost.
Your financial responsibility is based on your insurance coverage. If you have a deductible that has not been met, we will ask for payment toward that deductible. All co-pays are due at the time of service. Call your insurance provider directly to inquire.
Each time you undergo a surgery, you can be responsible for services from the surgery center, the anesthesiologist, and your physician at Retina Consultants of Southern Colorado.
